I was queuing at the Maybank Cash Deposit Machine this afternoon with Aisha. There were only 2 machines functioning (the ATM were all out of order, what's up with that seriously?) and there was a Chinese lady in front of me. On the next machine there were about 2-3 people queuing.
I was talking (oh so loudly as usual) with Aisha and then the lady in front of me said 'You may want to move to the next line because it's gonna be a while for me'
I could, actually move, but I figured:-
1) Who are you to give me order in public?
2) There were a few people on the next line, the time taken could be just the same.
3) Why sent Aisha to queue on the next line when this machine is functioning and she didn't own it.
4) How long would it really be, how many transactions were she planning actually.
5) There were also a few people behind me, should we like alll move to the next line?
So we kept on continue talking, and I think she had made about 10 transactions (if not more) so I decided for a little intervention.
'Miss, how long more do you think it's gonna be?'
'I told you to move to the next line but you refused'
'That's not the point. This machine is for public. If you think you're gonna make a lot of transactions have some civic (I was meant to say courtesy/manner but what the hell haha). Made a few transactions and move to the back, queue again.'
'But I'm in rush'
'Yeah and so am I'
I pushed her aside, finished her transactions and did my transactions which took briefly 5 seconds.
I am so sorry, I am not proud of what I have done neither do I felt heroic, but only if you have a bit of common courtesy, you would not hog to the machine as if it's yours.
Sigh, common courtesy is not that common anymore.
